True Grit

In the end, I was sad to have to put True Grit down. What a terrific story and what an innovative piece of literature.  And how about that Mattie Ross?!? At once gritty, savvy, courageous, witty, bull-headed, impulsive and vulnerable, author Charles Portis' heroine is the star of the show. I mean, I'm tempted to say that I'd love for my girls to wind up like Mattie, but that might fall into the category of "be careful what you wish for."

In other news, True Grit puts me at 5 books thusfar in 2012, with (no kidding) another 4 in process for my Fuller class. Bring it on 52!
